The Briggs Companies History
A family-owned business established in 1998, The Briggs Companies has grown from offering single-family home rentals to building rental communities. Every community we build, every suite, apartment or house we offer, is a place you’ll be proud to call home.Â
Founder Patrick L. Briggs has been a Minnesotan his entire life. At 15 years old, he started roofing houses and owned his own roofing business by age 16, all while working for a builder framing houses and attending college. At 18, he purchased his 1st home and represented himself through the entire process.
He studied at St. Cloud State University and earned a degree in Industrial Studies with an emphasis on construction and a minor in management.
In 1996, after graduation, he moved to Peoria, IL., where he was a territory manager and sold building products to local lumber yards. His sales skills brought the territory from $600K yearly to over $2.4 million in less than two years.
In 1998, he moved back to Minnesota and began his career in the mortgage industry with United Family Mortgage in Maple Grove. Representing himself, he started investing in real property, which included duplexes, triplexes, and fourplexes, and he owned more than 15 rental units.
